Riding school

Each lesson includes a short lecture on the horse’s character and how to handle it. Two course attendants take care of one horse. They clean it, learn how to put the saddle and the bridle on and lead it to the riding area. The riding itself consists of riding in walk and trot. Numerous balance as well as relaxation exercises are carried out that enable the rider to feel the horse and its movement

The number of course attendants can be more than 4. The riding techniques are looked into more thoroughly and the riders are taught how to be precise and consistent in the commands they give to the animal. The riders learn how to canter first on the long-line and later in the riding area without help. There is also a lot of riding over small obstacles and riding in circles, diagonals and other dressage elements.

Beside learning the basics of riding, the children are also taught how to tend for the animal, take care of the stables and riding equipment. They learn discipline, gain work habbits and respect towards material things. Horses are animals that feel safe in a daily routine, that is why they need to be taken care of each day in the same way, at the same time. The children feed the horses early in the morning, clean their boxes and make sure the stables are neat and clean.

The camps include a lesson in English per day and some creative workshops. All the accompanying programme has to do with horses in some way or another. During the summer holidays children are also taken to a natural swimming resort in Idrijska Bela.

Children sleep in our accommodation. If the children wish to sleep on the hay in the barn one night, we arrange that, too. Catering is arranged from nearby restaurants.
